These last couple of weeks, or maybe it has felt longer, we have been dealing with freezing temperatures. What a cold snap we have all had!
I know I probably fall in the low minority, but I am grateful for this snow. It has been 10 years since we have had a good snow, so I am going to enjoy it while it lasts.
Winter and snow bring a stillness and peacefulness in the air. Especially at night, when after a pretty snow, everything has a beautiful glow. One of my favorite times to be out in the snow is at night. I enjoy that time when the sound of nothing is all around. The snow gives off a quiet glow.
This past week, we had a winter storm come through our area. Since work was canceled, this was a great time to get out and take some pictures of the beautiful scenery. My husband took us out on a drive around the Jasper and Ponca area of Arkansas. The lower elevations had a light coating of ice in the trees, but the higher we traveled in elevation, more ice and possibly snow was formed on trees and everything along the highway. What a beautiful sight to see. It was like driving through a winter wonderland. I wanted to take pictures of everything I saw.
I want to share with you some pictures of the gorgeous ice and frost covered trees I captured along the way. The stillness of the trees, show off their beauty by their skeletal branches. By their bare branches, you get to see the real shape, without their robe of leaves. Trees can be known as pillars of the forest. In winter, they give a silent beauty of nature. The crispness of a winter frost outlines the shape of their branches. Here are a few of these beautiful pictures.
Thank you
