The Old Rugged Church

I have decided to embark on a new journey and share it with you through my photography. Pictures are and have always been fascinating to me. I was given a photography book along with my first camera and it was love at first sight. A whole new world opened up to me, as I read about how to take pictures, and the use of light to bring out color in new and exciting ways. I spent many hours practicing and experimenting with different methods to make my pictures something worth looking at. I spent some time with a photography group, along with some photo classes in college.

However, as the story goes , life happened and photography took a backseat.

Fast forward to three years ago, on a road trip to South Dakota, my passion was rekindled as I found myself taking a myriad of photos with my iPhone trying to capture these amazing images. As I met photographers along the way on various road trips, I took the same year, I began to wonder if I should consider owning a camera again, as their work and stories were so inspirational. I credit them with giving me the push I needed to pick up a camera again.

Many artists speak of their muse, and that is what the picture in my introduction really has been for me. It changed the way I take photographs forever. As we crested the hill on our road trip to South Dakota, there stood this desolate, but beautiful pioneer church alone in the middle of the prairie. Perhaps it was the still proud faithful building, much the worse for wear, along with, abandoned history of long ago voices that filled the walls with praise and worship that captured my eye. That day I knew it was time to return to a long forgotten passion, and strike out on my own to start a small business sharing my photos, that I hope you will enjoy (almost) as much as I do.
